Tammy delivers a number of presentations including: 1) Winning Against the Odds The only place where success comes before hard work is in the dictionary. Coping with obstacles on a daily basis is something we all face in our lives, but it's how you tackle these obstacles that determines the outcome. Having climbed many hurdles in my life both in and out of the water, I have used the power of positive thinking to keep me going. In my vocabulary, there is no such thing as failure, only new learning experiences and this presentation is sure to motivate even the most negative person into action. Mental toughness, sticking to your goals, and maintaining motivation are all underlying themes in this 30 - 45 minute PowerPoint Presentation. 2) To Motivate, Just Add Water and TeamworkSuccess in business, as in sport, is built around winning teams. Whilst the journey and success of a long distance swimmer is perceived to be a solo effort, this, in fact, could not be further from the truth. Every step of the way, I have had a team of dedicated people devoted to helping me achieve my goals. From my coach and mentor, Olympic Swimming Legend Dawn Fraser, right through to the support crew of 40 volunteers required for the Murray swim, my success has depended on their ability to work together as a team. I weave the story of the importance of teamwork (Together Everyone Achieves More) into my Murray adventure and parallel the problems and complications that I had, not only trying to cope with swimming 30 kilometres each day, but also managing a group of volunteers, some which I had never met before, into a team. Adapt, overcome and improvise was my team's catch phrase during the swim and every day we faced a changing environment, including life threatening situations involving snakes. We not only learned to cope, but, most importantly, be successful. I had to have total trust in my team's ability because each day I placed my life in their hands . The importance of good communication skills, valuing each person's skills, fostering a good working environment and making sure that the whole team is working in the same direction are just some of the topics covered in this presentation. 3) The Murray River - a swim of Environmental EnduranceI wish everyone could experience the closeness that I felt with the environment when I swam down the Murray River in 2000 - 2001. It's fair to say that I was totally immersed in it. Having seen the world's waterways from a unique perspective, I've become a virtual human water quality tester! My swim was about much more than breaking records, it was about putting the publicity spotlight on our greatest river, The Murray. There is no greater economic, environmental, social or cultural issue facing Australia than the health of the Murray Darling Basin. We have been slowly running up a national debt in salinity, destroying precious plants and animals, and reducing water quality. The challenge of protecting and conserving its future will be a major task. But real change begins with real people and history has proven that individuals do make a difference. This presentation encompasses my 106 day journey down the 2438km length of the Murray from the Alps to the Sea. As Australia's first Salinity & Water Quality ambassador, a title bestowed upon me by the Federal Government, the importance of ensuring that the Murray River is there for future generations is shared with my audience.
